Type Locality and Naming

In honor of the geologist-stratigrapher A.I. Kim, who first studied this section. M.A. Rzhonsnitskaya, 1974 (384, p.26). The stratotype is in the Hodja-Kurgan gorge. Previously, A.I. Kim and N.M. Larin identified these deposits as the regularissimus zone and attributed them to the Lalyan industrial unit (?).

Synonym: Kimovskie (Norbonakskie) Layers, Кимовские (норбонанские) сл.

Lithology and Thickness

Variegated, detrital, clast-detrital, coarse-crystalline crinoidal limestones, enriched with clay material and lenticular layers of cherts. Thickness 135 m.

Lower contact

It conformably overlies the Zinzilban Beds Fm

Upper contact

It is overlain by the Dzhaus Beds Fm.

Regional extent

Western part of the Zarafshan Range, basin of the Kashkadarya River.
